Best Season
South India is best visited during October-March But it is an experience in
itself to visit the areas during early and late monsoons(April and
September) when the skies are washed blue and landscape is at its greenest
best.
Day 1 : Chennai
Arrive by flight to Chennai. On arrival transfer to the Hotel for 2 nights.
Day 2 :Kanchipuram
Morning visit to Kanchipuram. Afternoon continue to Mahabalipuram.
Day 3 : Bangalore
Morning flight to Bangalore where transportation will be waiting. Short
city tour to include Lal Bagh Gardens, the Bull Temple and the Government
Buildings Afternoon at leisure.Overnight at hotel.
Day 4 : Mysore by road
Continue to Mysore by road for two night stay. Afternoon city tour
including Maharajah's Palace and the Nandi Bull. If time permits also
included a short visit to the local fruit and vegetable market.
Day
5 : Somnathpur
Visit to Somnathpur Temple and the Mausoleum, the Summer Palace of Tipu
Sultan and the prison, all at Srirangapatnam. Return to hotel and rest of
the day at leisure.
Day 6 : Ootacamund
Early morning drive to Ootacamund. Transfer to the Hotel for two night
stay. Afternoon sightseeing will include Doddabetta, Botanical Gardens and
photo stop at the Lake. Special arrangements can be made for dinner at Ooty
club on request .
Day 7 : Madurai
Drive to Madurai and transfer to Hotel for two nights.
Day 8 : Meenakshi Temple
Morning city tour including Meenakshi Temple, Tirumalainaik Palace and
water tank. Afternoon free.
Day 9 : Periyar
Morning drive to Periyar for overnight stay at Spice Village. Afternoon
boat cruise on Lake periyar to watch the numerous bird life and if lucky
wild elephants.
Day 10 : Kumarakom
Morning visit a local spice plantation and continue to Kumarakom by road
Overnight at Kumarakom.Evening sunset cruise on Vembanad lake.
Day 11 : Kumarakom
This morning visit Kumarakom bird sanctuary .After lunch board your own
private houseboat for an overnight on the famous rice barge of Kerela.
Day 12 : Cochin
Drive to Cochin for overnight Transfer to Hotel. City tour of Cochin to
include Chinese Fishing Nets, St Francis Church and the Jewish Quarter (the
Synagogue and Mattancherry Palace).You may take a optional tour to the
Kathakali dance performance in the evening,with a backstage view of how the
attires and face paints are applied.The experience of this dance form of
south India is memorable.
Day 13 : Chennai
Transfer to the airport for flight to Chennai.Arrive at Chennai and
transfer to hotel.
Optional
Afternoon city tour to include Fine Bronze Section at the Government
Museum, the Kapaleeshwara Temple, San Thome Basilica and Fort St George (St
Mary's Church).
Day 14
Transfer to airport for home.
